Greenlight Financial Technology has named former WorldPay CTO and Fiserv CIO Nancy Cox its new CTO. While with WorldPay, Ms. Cox launched the ATDC’s fintech program in support of early stage companies. She also serves on the board of Women in Technology, a nonprofit organization which helps women advance their careers.
“Under the leadership of Nancy Cox, Greenlight will accelerate our innovation in debit card technology.” Greenlight cofounder and CEO Tim Sheehan said.
“I joined Greenlight because I believe in the vision they have for transforming personal finance for kids and their parents,” Ms. Cox said. “Greenlight is helping parents raise financially smart kids with a unique solution that is safe, secure, and useful. I see the potential to make a material impact on the family finance market.”
Card functionality improved
Greenlight makes a debit card for children that allows parents to select the stores where their children are allowed to use it. The card is issued by FDIC member Community Federal Savings Bank pursuant to a license by Mastercard International.
It can now be used in more than 120 countries. Through an integration with Apple Pay, cardless payments can be made from any Apple product.
“High schoolers often have a chance to visit other countries through their foreign language classes and many families take vacations internationally, so we’re excited to enable our customers to use their Greenlight Cards worldwide,” Mr. Sheehan said. “Young people are leading the way in paying for things using their mobile phones, so we’re pleased to enable Apple Pay for Greenlight customers.”
Greenlight’s more than 10,000 customers are on track to complete more than one million transactions in 2017. It has raised more than $7.5 million in seed funding from Relay Ventures, Social Capital, NEA, TTV Capital, Boom Ventures and Tech Square Labs.
