Peer-to-peer lending site Prosper Marketplace has made a strategic personnel move with the announcement of the hiring of former PayPal and eBay Australia executive Macy Lee as Chief Financial Officer.

Ms. Lee joins Prosper from eBay Australia where she also served as CFO. EBay Australia is Australia’s busiest e-commerce site with multi-billion dollar annual turnover. Her areas of contribution included strategic planning, resource allocation and measurement mechanisms. Among her key achievements was the winning of a transfer pricing ruling from the Australia Taxation Office which allowed eBay Australia to minimize risk during a significant growth period.

Prior to heading to Australia Macy Lee spent nearly nine years with PayPal in a series of positions. She was the finance lead on three acquisitions totaling just under $1.5 billion and was heavily involved in merchant services with large companies and business strategies for small and medium businesses. While much of her work was based in North America, Ms. Lee was also involved in the development of a global payments network and worked specifically with such emerging markets as Latin America, the Middle East and Africa.

Macy Lee graduated from Southwestern with a BA in International Finance in 1993 before receiving her MBA from USC’s Marshall School of Business in 1997. In between her BA and MBA she worked as a project analyst for international investment with the Sichuan Provincial economic and Trade Commission.

Macy Lee’s experience working with the world’s two largest economies along with several emerging market countries and her background with large acquisitions gives Prosper a wise advisor as they plot their growth strategy.
