Kik Interactive announced this week its token distribution event (TDE) has ended after raising close to $100 million.
It attracted more than 10,000 people from 117 countries.
“We wanted as many people as possible to participate in the Kin token distribution event. Based on the outpouring of support leading up to and during the event, we clearly achieved that goal,” Kik founder and CEO Ted Livingston said.
“We envision Kin as the foundation for a decentralized ecosystem of digital services, starting with Kik, and we couldn’t be more thrilled than to build this new future together with you.”
Kin is an ERC20 token on the Ethereum blockchain. It will be integrated into Kik as its primary transaction currency. Now that it is integrated into Kik’s chat program, which has millions of users Kin has chance to gain wide adoption.
The long-term plan is to have the Kin Rewards Engine foster the creation and growth of a decentralized, global digital services ecosystem.
