There’s a well-trodden idea going around that says if you want to become a wealthy, successful person, then you need to put yourself slap bang in the middle of the mix, and then work hard to make your dreams come true.
The latter part is correct; there’s no substitute for hard work. But the first part of the sentence isn’t true. You don’t need to be located right in the heart of downtown to build your empire. You can do it anywhere. Even if the bulk of your money ends up coming from the city, no law says you have to make your base there.
When you’re trying to set out in business, you’ll need to be keeping an eye on your finances. Even when you’re a success, you don’t want to be spending all of your money just on keeping up the appearance of living in an overpriced city.
If you opt to live in a smaller town, you’ll see that the cost of just about everything is lower, and you’ll be able to put your cash into making your business even more robust, all from the comfort of a more relaxed environment.
More financial sense
Take a look at where some of the biggest companies in the world have their headquarters.
Some of the places will surprise you; why aren’t they in London, or New York, or anywhere else that people think of when discussing ‘the centre of the world’? It’s because it would be financially foolish to do so. You’ll get better value for your money if you locate yourself in an up and coming area, rather than a place that’s already well established. There is also a greater tax incentive to be located in these areas too!
Better standard of living
You’re going to be working enough hours in the day as it is; you do not need a stressful out of office life. In the big cities, you’ll have to wade through a long commute or cram yourself onto a packed subway; by the time you get home, the energy you need to work on your business will be gone.
Step away from the city, and you’ll enjoy a better standard of living. Homes are more affordable, and larger, too; view our collection of real estate to see what your money can buy when you choose small town living. With fewer people, you won’t be battling your way home, and you’ll also be able to make the most of the energy-boosting benefits of nature.
Don’t choose your environment; create it
The internet allows you to stay in touch with all aspects of your business, regardless of where you’re based. If you’re an ambitious entrepreneur, then set up your own camp, and then let people find you.
The best minds don’t flock to other people’s world; they create their own, and then people go to them. When you pick a place away from the big cities, you’ll be able to set out your stall for your own empire.
