The key to producing the best work for your clients is to create an environment that is conducive to creativity. It’s not easy to produce quality work time and time again, especially if your environment isn’t suited to it. So, how do you improve your environment and better work production at the same time?

Get the Right Team

The people you work with will help to create the atmosphere in your office. Hiring the right people will mean you have a great bunch of team players who are willing to do their fair share of the work. It will also mean that your team has a good chance of getting along with each other. People who are able to communicate well make working together and producing quality work easy. Similarly, if you have a member of the team who isn’t working well and causing problems for other staff members, it may be time to let them go.

Lighting and Air

Did you know that the lighting in an office can have a major effect on how people work? Too dim and your staff will be struggling to see things properly, and damaging their eyes at the same time. Too bright and it could result in staff getting headaches or feeling unwell, especially with the glare from computer screens. The temperature of your office is also something to monitor. As the Summer months hit, your air conditioning will be a god send, but as it gets colder in Winter, keep 24 hour furnace repair on speed dial. A cold worker will not produce as much work as expected.

Office Comforts

If you’re sat at a chair for hours on end and you go home with back pains, it’s likely you’ll be taking time off work at some point. Every member of the team should be comfortable while working. Whether that means investing in ergonomic office chairs or allowing staff to bring in their cushions or blankets, it all helps to get the work done. There will be times throughout the working day when your staff will need to get up and stretch their legs. Think about creating a space where staff can do a little exercise. Perhaps a yoga room, with mats and exercise balls.

Team Building

As mentioned earlier, a great team is one that communicates well. As a leader, it’s important to encourage regular communication between your staff. Having face-to-face meetings is a great way to get to know each other. If your team really needs to improve on communication, consider taking them on a team building exercise outside of the working environment. It could be something like an assault course, laser tag or bowling. You can also hire professionals who come to the workplace to teach trust building exercises. It’s a great way to break the ice between people who don’t know each other very well but will have to work more closely in the future.

Getting your working environment right is a big deal, so make sure you put some time into it.
