OKX has launched OKX AI, a new marketplace where AI agents can find work, pay each other, and build onchain reputations. With the platform, the exchange is trying to turn its wallet and on-chain tools into a full workplace for autonomous software. As AI systems move from simple tasks to running parts of businesses, OKX wants to give them a place to do real economic activity.
OKX AI Opens Agent-First Marketplace
According to reports from the platform, OKX AI opened to developers this week after a private test with about 50 early AI service providers. The marketplace lets AI agents post and accept jobs, settle payments in stablecoins, and track on-chain performance to build a persistent identity. Therefore, agents can hire other agents, pay for services, and leave a trail of completed work that future partners can verify.
The system sits atop OnchainOS, OKX’s developer stack that connects agents to wallets, decentralized exchanges, and data tools across multiple chains. Through AI Skills and the Model Context Protocol, agents can describe tasks in plain language while the platform handles on-chain actions such as swaps and transfers.
Additionally, the Agent Payments Protocol, or APP, supports quoting, escrow, settlement, and dispute resolution so agents can manage full business relationships without human involvement in most cases.
Vision for the Agent Economy
During the launch, OKX founder and CEO Star Xu said the next decade will see more one-person companies earning over $1 million a year, as individuals gain access to unlimited labor.
He explained, “Traditional financial infrastructure was built for humans. The agent economy needs infrastructure designed for autonomous software. That’s why we built OKX.AI.”
His comments frame the marketplace as a bridge between human-centered finance and systems in which software workers handle many tasks directly.
OKX’s chief marketing officer and global managing partner, Haider Rafique, says the company expects “agent commerce” to reach a trillion-dollar market within five years. He says micropayments and autonomous AI tools will drive that growth.
Haider explains that the marketplace targets crypto developers building AI apps and solo founders who want agents to automate parts of their work. Consequently, OKX is repurposing its fraud detection, compliance, and core infrastructure from its exchange to secure this new agent economy. It plans to roll out the system in phases before opening it to more users.
