Zcash price climbed more than 10% on Tuesday after developers outlined progress toward mathematically proving Ironwood’s shielded pool is free from undetectable counterfeiting bugs. The update restored attention to the network’s upcoming privacy upgrade and helped the Zcash coin asset separate itself from a flat Bitcoin market.
At the time of writing, the ZEC crypto traded around $496 after briefly reclaiming the $500 level for the first time since early June.
Ironwood Security Milestone Restores Confidence in ZEC
Buyers responded directly to Project Tachyon’s latest verification update. Zcash founder Zooko Wilcox said the initiative is close to producing a mathematical proof that the upcoming Ironwood shielded pool contains no undetectable counterfeiting vulnerabilities, addressing the same class of issue that triggered last month’s Orchard disclosure.
The team has scheduled Ironwood for deployment this month, with formal verification designed to eliminate specification-level bugs that might otherwise remain hidden due to Zcash’s privacy architecture.
The announcement reversed sentiment that had lingered since Orchard’s vulnerability sent ZEC down more than 40% in two days. Developers patched the flaw and said they believe it was never exploited, but the protocol’s privacy model prevented cryptographic proof that no counterfeit coins had ever been created.

Ironwood introduces a fresh shielded pool alongside a turnstile migration mechanism that allows wallets to move funds out of Orchard while establishing evidence that no hidden inflation occurred. The verification effort is being accelerated through AI-assisted proof generation, reducing work that previously took years to a matter of weeks.
Former NEAR Protocol contributor Vadim Zacodil compared the risk profile to Bitcoin’s 2010 inflation bug, although Bitcoin’s transparent ledger exposed that exploit immediately while Zcash’s shielded transactions require stronger mathematical guarantees. Traders are now watching confirmation of Ironwood’s activation date as the next fundamental catalyst.
Zcash Price Breaks Key Resistance as Analysts Turn Constructive
Technical flows reinforced the fundamental catalyst. ZoneCrypto noted that ZEC decoupled from a largely unchanged Bitcoin market, becoming one of the strongest-performing major altcoins after breaking above its 30-day exponential moving average near $448 and reclaiming the 23.6% Fibonacci retracement around $498. That combination confirmed a stronger market structure and attracted momentum buyers.
Another popular chartist, Ardi, highlighted a compound resistance zone near $480, where a descending trendline converged with horizontal resistance. He argued that repeated rejection at that level built the breakout setup rather than invalidating it, adding that holding above the zone would support a move back above $500 and open the path toward macro resistance around the low-$530 area shown on his chart.
ChiefraF pointed to a longer-term trendline dating back to February that has held through successive pullbacks. He noted that the previous rebound from that support carried ZEC from roughly $360 to $730 before the latest retracement, leaving the same trendline intact near current prices.
The current Zcash price prediction remains tied to whether buyers can defend reclaimed resistance near $480-$500 while the market awaits confirmation of Ironwood’s deployment.
