Blockchain.com, a Miami-based crypto exchange, announced it will be the 2022’s official title sponsor for South Florida’s premier technology event.

The event — eMerge Americas 2022 Conference — is the anchor event of Miami Tech Week slated to take place mid-next year (around April).

The first-ever sponsored event to be paid in Bitcoin comes at a time when Miami is seeking to become a cryptocurrency and technology hub. This event’s sponsorship will cement Blockchain.com’s commitment to Latin America and Miami.

The publicized Americas technology event seeks to bring together corporate enterprises, investors, startups, the higher education department, and the government.

“Blockchain technology touches all aspects of life”

Peter Smith, co-founder, and CEO of Blockchain.com will inaugurate the ceremony as the keynote speaker on the event’s main stage. He’s expected to champion Miami as the bridge to the Americas and the future of finance.

Manny Medina, founder and executive chairman of eMerge Americas, said the blockchain technology will change “all aspects of our lives … within the next decade”,

She added that the event is “honored to partner with Blockchain.com to be a point of entry organizations throughout the Americas to embrace this innovative technology.”

Over 16,000 expected to attend the event

As the title sponsor, Blockchain.com will prominently feature (in front of more than 16,000 people present) as part of the event’s marketing and branding efforts. This will be a first for the event, as a portion of the sponsorship deal will be paid in crypto.

In addition, all attendees are expected to have a Blockchain.com wallet where they’ll receive a crypto bonus for registering for the event.

Although the crypto exchange moved its US headquarters to Miami in June this year, it’s well committed to growing its footprint in Miami with aggressive investments (in the South Florida STEM community), office expansion plans, and regional hiring.

CEO Smith said their commitment to the next year’s event is greater, adding “eMerge Americas [event] offers a unique opportunity to showcase that commitment, reaching thousands of attendees for more than 40 countries who are committed to transforming Miami into the tech hub of the Americas.”

Smith further indicated that all of Blockchain.com’s regional investments focus on democratizing finance “for people across the Americas”, and that this is just the beginning of good things to happen in the future.

Francis Suarez, Miami’s mayor, said the crypto exchange partnership with the event should be a blueprint for other U.S. cities to emulate and learn how to better “scale the benefits of Fintech and cryptocurrency for generations of constituents.”
