  • Blockchain.com users now have access to 10 NFT name domains.
  • This effort seeks to streamline crypto transactions for Blockchain.com's 81 million users.
  • Users can mint the NFT domain names at zero gas fees.

Blockchain.com has teamed up with Unstoppable Domains to let wallet holders use non-fungible token (NFT) usernames. Unstoppable Designs unveiled this news through a press release yesterday, noting that this deal seeks to help Blockchain.com’s 81 million users leverage human-friendly names for their wallets instead of alphanumeric addresses.

Unstoppable Domains functions like Ethereum Name Service (ENS), which lets people add the .eth extension to their wallet addresses. However, unlike ENS, Unstoppable Domains will offer Blockchain.com users 10 extension options.

According to the news release, Unstoppable Domains will offer the following extensions .bitcoin, .coin, .crypto, .dao, .nft, .wallet, .x, .zil, .888, or .blockchain. However, the .blockchain extension is not yet live. These domains are accessible natively on Brave and Opera browsers as well as browser extensions on Chrome, Firefox, and Edge.

By adding these extensions to their wallets, users will be able to customize their wallet addresses, making them easier to read and transact with. Instead of adding the alphanumeric addresses to blockchain-based apps, services, games, or the metaverse, Blockchain.com users will only need to add their NFT names, which will serve as their digital identifiers.

Users can mint the Unstoppable Designs NFT names on the blockchain at zero gas fees. On top of this, the NFT names do not have a renewal fee. This means that users will have complete ownership and control over the domain names they purchase forever.

Making crypto user-friendly and accessible

Commenting on this partnership, Blockchain.com’s Senior Product Manager, Amadeo Pellicce, said it is vital to make crypto easy to use and more accessible for everyone.

He added,

Replacing complicated addresses with human-readable domains on Blockchain.com allows users to send and receive crypto as easily as sending an email.

Per Unstoppable Domains, NFT name extensions will help eliminate user error. Additionally, they create a more human-centric approach to interacting with crypto and the web3 ecosystem.

Sandy Carter, the SVP of Unstoppable Domains, said,

With millions of people using Blockchain.com Wallet in more than 200 countries every day, it's partners like these who help make NFT domains and simple crypto payments more accessible to the next influx of users.

This news comes after Blockchain.com continues stepping up its NFT game. The company announced the Blockchain.com NFT marketplace in December last year. This marketplace is currently in beta, and it aims to let users browse, buy, sell, or store NFTs without leaving their Blockchain.com wallets.
