Kyle Roche, a founding partner of Roche Freedman, filed to withdraw from a number of crypto class action suits after Crypto Leaks, a self-proclaimed whistleblower platform, accused him of attacking crypto firms. Allegedly, he was involved in “gangster-style” attacks on the companies, CoinDesk wrote.
Roche is withdrawing as attorney in cases against BitMEX (HDR Global Trading), Tron, Bitfinex, and Tether. They are all class-action lawsuits that accuse the defendants of scamming retail investors.
Scandalous videos leaked
A few days ago, the site Crypto Leaks published a series of videos, in which Kyle Roche bragged about using the law to collect sensitive data on crypto firms. He appeared to refer to the plaintiffs as 100,000 idiots and the jury as 10 idiots.
Roche responded to the release by referring to the videos highly edited, illegally obtained clips that were taken out of context.
Roche was retained by Ava Labs
Previously, Roche has worked for Ava Labs, the company behind the Avalanche blockchain. Crypto Leaks also accused him of filing frivolous lawsuits against Avalanche competitors.
Both Roche and Emin Gün Sirer, the founder of Ava Labs, denied the allegations. Nobody from Roche or Ava Labs has responded to media requests for comments. On Wednesday, a motion said Kyle Roche no longer took part in class action practices and would “withdraw as one of the attorneys for the Proposed Class.”
Still active
Kyle Roche has not requested to withdraw from other class action lawsuits, including those against Solana Labs, Block.one, Nexo, Celsius’ bankruptcy, and BAM Trading, who operate Binance.US. Court filings show he is still Emin Gün Sirer’s attorney of record in a number of legal actions.
The law firm has not dropped class action lawsuits altogether. They are expected to continue without the partner name Roche in Roche Freedman.
