Bitcoin price remains in a technical bear market, having fallen from its October 2025 all-time high of $126,300 to the current $68,000. This article explores the top Bitcoin news that may impact its price this week.

Bitcoin News: FOMC Minutes

The first major Bitcoin news this week will be released on Wednesday, when the Federal Reserve publishes the minutes of its last monetary policy meeting.

These minutes will provide more information on the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting, at which they left interest rates unchanged between 3.50% and 3.75%. Historically, these minutes provide more detail on what to expect in upcoming meetings.

The minutes come a few days after the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) delivered its January consumer inflation report. This report showed that the headline Consumer Price Index (CPI) fell to 2.4% in January, down from 2.7% previously. Core inflation, which excludes the volatile food and energy prices, remained unchanged at 2.5%.

In addition to the minutes, several Fed officials, including Mary Daly, Raphael Bostic, Michele Bowman, and Neel Kashkari, will speak and discuss the recent data and its implications for interest rates.

Potential SCOTUS Ruling on Donald Trump’s Tariffs

Another potential Bitcoin news story to watch this week is the Supreme Court ruling on Donald Trump’s tariffs. According to the WSJ, the potential dates for the ruling are February 20th, 24th, and 25th.

A ruling ending Trump’s tariffs may trigger a brief Bitcoin price rally, as it would lower U.S. inflation expectations. The impact will be brief because Trump still has additional tools to implement tariffs, though they will take more time.

Also, ending tariffs may affect revenue, as it will lead to lower tariff revenues and a wider deficit. The most recent data showed that the US collected $30 billion in tariff revenue in January, bringing the fiscal-year total to $124 billion, up 304% YoY.

Trump is also considering tweaking his massive steel and aluminum tariffs, a move that will also lead to lower inflation.

ETHDenver Event

The other major Bitcoin news this week is the upcoming ETHDenver event that will take place on February 18 and 25. While this event is geared toward Ethereum, it will likely deliver major news that will impact Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

For example, Paul Atkins, the head of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), will speak and outline key initiatives the agency is working on. The other top officials who may impact crypto prices are Hester Peirce, Bo Hines,  and Tomasz Stanczak of the Ethereum Foundation.
