Chainlink has introduced Chainlink Rewards, a significant community engagement and reward initiative aimed at incentivizing active participation and enhancing network security within the platform ecosystem. The program, announced on May 5, 2025, launches in partnership with decentralized data platform Space and Time (SXT).
The rewards program is part of the Chainlink Economics 2.0 strategy, which aims to enhance the cryptoeconomic security of its oracle services by encouraging LINK holders to stake their tokens and support the network’s performance. Chainlink Build projects, early-stage and established teams building on its platform, can make their native tokens claimable by eligible Chainlink participants, including node operators and LINK stakers.
The Beginning—Chainlink “Season Genesis”
“Season Genesis” is the inaugural season, launching on May 8, 2025. Space and Time, a long-standing Chainlink Build partner, is distributing 200 million SXT tokens — 4% of its SXT token supply—to the Chainlink community.
The initial batch of 100 million SXT will be available for claim by both historical and active LINK stakers, with a 90-day claim period. Any unclaimed tokens and an additional 100 million SXT will be available for future reward campaigns.
The participation of Space and Time in the project leverages the platform’s oracle services to deliver zero-knowledge-proven data queries to smart contracts, and now, through Chainlink Rewards, gives back to the community that helps secure the network.
Community and New User Incentive
The rewards program aims to deepen user engagement and attract new participants to the ecosystem by distributing tokens to those who actively stake LINK and support the network. Moreover, the v0.2 upgrade to the platform’s staking pool has expanded capacity to 45 million LINK—about 8% of the current circulating supply—making it easier for more LINK holders to participate in and benefit from reward programs.
Despite undisclosed details about future reward partners or the long-term schedule for the program, it recognizes and rewards those contributing to its security and growth. Additionally, it sets the stage for a more robust, community-driven ecosystem.
Such incentives could drive activity and growth, helping attract both capital and users who might not have any past interaction with the platform ecosystem.
