After nearly three years of compressed sideways price action following the 2021 collapse, Dash coin is showing signs that the base may finally be cracking.

On May 20, the privacy coin posted a 15.25% intraday gain, briefly tagging $48.54 before pulling back to $47.40, its sharpest single-session move in weeks.

Eleven of twelve moving averages flipped to buy signals in the same session, with only the EMA(200) at $48.16 holding as near-term resistance.

Dash Price Breaks Out of a 3-Year Base as Moving Averages Align

Analyst Spermix frames the macro chart as a textbook sequence: multi-year base compression, then volatility expansion, then fast repricing.

Every major historical move from this asset launched from the same structure, and with DASH price returning to that same historical zone, compressed supply overhead is the key mechanical variable.

After years of sideways drift, demand doesn’t need to be heavy to produce outsized price movement; overhead supply thins with time, and that asymmetry is exactly what makes exits from ranges like this dangerous to fade.

Further, the weekly MA stack confirms buyers stepped in with conviction. Short-, mid-, and long-term averages from the 10-period through the 200 SMA, all flipped to buy signals in a single session. EMA(200) at $48.16 is the only holdout. The DASH coin price tagged the session peak precisely and stalled, making it the line that determines whether this is a breakout or a rejection.

Another chartist Crypto Bullet maps the weekly chart as a falling wedge nested inside a multi-year rounding bottom formation. His Dash price forecast includes one final retest of the $20–25 floor zone before the broader structure resolves, with the 2021 high of about $450 potentially challenged in 2028 or 2029.

While that is a multi-year thesis, not an immediate target, it defines the structural ceiling that the accumulation exit would eventually need to clear.

Aurora Adds Dash Coin Support and Privacy Coins Rally Together

The technical setup needed a trigger, and it got one. Aurora added Dash coin support to its Intents Widget on May 19, one day before the surge, opening a direct entry point for cross-chain swaps, deposits, and app flows.

Twenty-four-hour volume responded with $145.7 million on the session, a 60.87% spike, pushing the volume-to-market cap ratio to 25.13% against a $601.67 million cap.

Monero and Zcash moved in the same direction, pointing to sector rotation into privacy assets rather than pure Dash-specific demand.

Dashpay had been building toward a username-based transaction layer, impersonation-resistant, human-readable identities on an immutable contact list, eliminating address-swapping errors and identity fraud at the point of transfer.

At the time of writing, Dash price is up over 15% on the session, 2.33% on the week, and 41.47% over the past 30 days. The twelve-month return stands at 102.56%, YTD at 14.05%. A six-month figure of -34.82% maps the full depth of the base this week’s move is trying to leave behind.
