Hosted in the Kinoteka theater of Warsaw’s Palace of Culture and Science, the Bitcoin Film Festival brings together film fans and Bitcoin advocates from all over the world to watch some of the most interesting Bitcoin films and documentaries, CoinTelegraph wrote.
The festival emphasized the lively culture underpinning the Bitcoin ecosystem and celebrated the flagship crypto’s rising global influence. It was attended by top talents like Tomer Kantor, who was notably present at the first-ever Bitcoin film festival, BitFilm, in 2015.
Irish farmer used cow dung to mine Bitcoin
CoinTelegraph reported on the premiere of The Bitcoin Farmer, a short documentary about an Irish farmer who used surplus energy on his farm to mine Bitcoin. He used the methane generated by cow dung. After the film, there was a panel discussion with Jackson Dumont, who directed the video, Bitcoin Film Fest cofounder Pierre Corbin, and other important figures.
Pierre Corbin explained that Bitcoin was very popular in Poland, largely due to the significant Ukrainian population. About a quarter of Poland’s immigrant population is Ukrainian. When the war started, Bitcoin donations skyrocketed. Pierre explained how Bitcoin was used:
Human rights foundations helped Ukrainians transfer their wealth into Bitcoin and cross the border here into Poland, then walked them through the process of getting their money back out of Bitcoin ATMs. Poland is the country in Europe with the most Bitcoin ATMs.
The other cofounder of the festival, Tomek Kolodziejczuk, wanted to meet with Pierre and screen his film, The Great Reset and the Rise of Bitcoin. This idea led to more ideas. They met numerous times, which ultimately led to showing Bitcoin movies from all over the world in Warsaw.
Notable film productions at the event include Bond to Unbind, a documentary shot in El Salvador, and The Human B, which explores the effect of Bitcoin on individuals’ lives.
