Ronin Network is evolving from a sidechain into a full Ethereum Layer 2, powered by Optimism’s OP Stack. With block times as fast as 100–200 milliseconds, gameplay, NFT minting, and DeFi actions become near-instant, unlocking a seamless Web3 experience.
EigenDA’s vertical scaling pushes throughput into the thousands of transactions per second, removing bottlenecks and preparing the network for explosive gaming growth.
Security also takes a major leap: OP Stack’s permissionless verification anchors Ronin to Ethereum’s battle-tested security while adding Optimism’s proven scaling, fraud prevention, and composability.
Incentives And Ecosystem Access Drive Ronin Move
The migration expects a sizable incentive package. The OP Foundation, in collaboration with key partners like Eigen Labs and Boundless Foundation, is supplying $5–$7 million in grants. This includes OP tokens for network development, EIGEN tokens to subsidize data availability costs, and targeted airdrops for active community members and builders.
These milestone-linked grants will fuel Ronin through the critical transition period ending mid-2026. This will enable the company to scale operations, reward developers, and pilot payment innovations. This is especially in gaming-heavy regions such as Southeast Asia.
Joining the OP Stack aligns Ronin with the rapidly growing Superchain, an interconnected Layer 2 universe that already counts Base (from Coinbase), Uniswap, and many more among its ranks. This opens up seamless interoperability for assets, dApps, and users, enabling Ronin projects to tap into the liquidity, user base, and DeFi tooling of Ethereum’s biggest applications.
Ronin’s custom gas token ($RON) will remain natively supported, preserving its identity while expanding connectivity and governance capabilities in the Ethereum L2 sphere.
