This week’s North American Bitcoin Conference in Miami will provide attendees with the opportunity to network with some of the industry’s brightest minds. The conference runs from Wednesday through Friday at the James L. Knight Center.

Bitcoin Foundation founder Charlie Shrem will be holding a fireside chat. While he was the CEO of BitInstant, the company grew to become one of the earliest and largest Bitcoin companies, processing 30 percent of all bitcoin/USD volume. Mr. Shrem has been actively involved in bridging the gap between traditional finance and Bitcoin through ventures such as Payza.com. His current venture is a capital management firm issuing tokenized securitized assets on the Blockchain.

Bitcoin Foundation chairman Brock Pierce will also appear. The Blockchain Capital co-founder is also co-founder and head of strategy at Block.one, founding board member of Mastercoin (inventor of the ICO), and an advisor to Bancor. Block.one was created in 2017 and has since sold more than $300 million in tokens during the first month of EOS crowdsale, the largest ever. Bancor sold $150 million tokens in June of 2017. He has founded and co-founded a number of blockchain based firms, including IGE, the pioneer of digital currency in online games with revenues exceeding $100 million in 2006.

Decred project lead Jake Yocom-Piatt will discuss the application of blockchain timestamping. The co-creator of high-security asynchronous chat system zkc, Mr. Yocom-Piatt has been using, funding and directing the creation of open-source software for more than a decade.

Barbados Stock Exchange (BSE) and Barbados Central Securities Depository managing director Marlon E. Yarde will appear on an investment panel. His current position is establishing the BSE as the traditional exchange of choice for the listing and trading of digital financial assets on a well-regulated market with international best practice rules within a jurisdiction with a reputation for a robust regulatory framework.

Digital cash inventor David Chaum will take a look into the future. Mr. Chaum is a well-known fundamental innovator in cryptography, including privacy technology and secure election systems. He is the founder of the International Association for Cryptologic Research — the cryptography group at the Centre for Mathematics and Computer Science in Amsterdam, DigiCash — the voting system institute and Perspectiva Fund.

The North American Bitcoin Conference is part of the January 14-22 Blockchain Week promotion in Miami, which includes a kick-off networking party on January 16 and a Satoshi Decade Event on January 17.
