  • Today’s education system is not preparing children for the jobs of tomorrow.
  • Most American parents would like their children to receive an education that will better equip them for the future.

Blockchain technology and cryptocurrency are slowly becoming a part of our everyday lives. While some people are still hesitant about using digital currency, others have already started investing in cryptocurrencies. And as the adoption of this new technology grows, so does the demand for education on the subject. According to an analysis by BanklessTimes.com, 64% of US parents would like to see crypto education established in schools.

BanklessTimes CEO, Jonathan Merry, commented on the findings. He said,

It is encouraging to see that parents are starting to realize the importance of crypto education. With the increasing popularity of cryptocurrencies, it is important for people to understand how they work. And what better place to learn about this new technology than in school?

The analysis also found that 40% of parents believe their children should be taught about blockchain technology and its functionality. Additionally, 35% of parents said they would like their children to learn about the metaverse and virtual worlds.

So Why the Sudden Interest in Crypto Education?

For one, blockchain technology and cryptocurrency are still relatively new and unknown to most people. And as we’ve seen with other new technologies, there is always a learning curve involved. Introducing crypto education in schools can help with the learning curve and make it easier for people to understand and use this new technology.

In addition, with the increasing popularity of cryptocurrency, there is also a growing demand for jobs in the industry. Postings for blockchain-related jobs have increase by over 1000 monthly in the UK. Therefore, it’s not surprising that parents in US want their children to be ahead and have the skills and knowledge necessary to get a job in this booming industry.

Blockchain and the Future of Education

The present education system is designed to hone the skills required for jobs that existed a decade ago. The rate of change is too slow to catch up with the rapidly changing world of work. In the next ten years, many jobs are expected to be replaced by automation and artificial intelligence. This means that the skills required for employment in the future will be very different from the skills needed today.

Blockchain is a distributed database that allows for secure, transparent, and tamper-proof transactions. This makes it ideal for a wide range of applications such as smart contracts, supply chain management, identity management, and so on. And as more and more businesses start to adopt blockchain technology, the demand for blockchain developers and engineers will only increase.

Thus, the introduction of new subjects in schools could prepare students for the jobs of the future, one being blockchain technology. The technology could also help students understand the potential implications of this new technology and how it could reshape our world.
