  • Access to World ID verifications grew steadily all over the world in December
  • Worldcoin’s creators haven’t provided any details about audits, critic says

World ID verifications are now available to individuals in Singapore via the Orb, the project’s custom hardware device. Anyone who shares the global interest in “proof of personhood” and the Worldcoin project can verify their unique humanness at an Orb in the latest event according to a post on the project’s website.

This comes in the wake of the recent launch of World ID 2.0 and the open sourcing of the Worldcoin iris recognition channel in the middle of December.

TFH joins highest startup and tech ranks

Tools for Humanity (TFH), one of the platforms behind the project, has become a member of ACCESS and the Singapore Fintech Association (SFA), two of Singapore’s most respected startup and tech organizations. The launch of the project and association memberships follows members of the TFH product development team’s recent multicity tour in Asia.

Growing global market presence

According to Worldcoin’s post, access to World ID verifications grew steadily all over the world in December. In Spain, Bilbao and Sevilla joined a growing list of cities including Madrid, Malaga, and Mallorca that offer World ID verifications. In Germany, four cities feature Orb locations: Cologne, Berlin, Leipzig, and Nuremberg.

In Chile, access to World ID locations has recently expanded to Curico, Concepcion, and Viña del Mar. Such have existed in Santiago for some time. A new nationwide record was just set in Argentina: more than 10,000 people underwent the verification procedure in a single day.

Finally, Asia wasn’t left out even before Singapore. The Japanese city of Fukuoka on Kyushu Island joined other locations in the country, including Tokyo, where proof of personhood verification via World ID is available.

The project isn’t without critics

Hudson Jameson ofPolygon, previously a core developer of the Ethereum Foundation, has called the project “unrealistic and scary.” He alarms that Worldcoin’s creators haven’t provided any details about audits, there is no advertising, no working group to hold talks with experts, and no publicly accessible plans for its socio-economic implications.
