Aventis Graduate School, a Singapore private education provider, is gearing up to open a campus in the metaverse. A report unveiled this news earlier today, noting the virtual campus will be able to enroll over 60,000 students. Aventis Graduate School seeks to launch this virtual campus in the coming year.

According to the report, the education institution went live in 2007, and it aims to become Asia’s first graduate school to launch in the metaverse. The school and its partners, Smobler Studios and Multiverse Labs, signed an agreement earlier today. Smobler Studios is a virtual architecture and creative agency, while Multiverse Labs is a metaverse technology specialist.

The parties agreed to enter a three-year deal to establish the Aventis Metaverse initiative. Through this project, the three partners aim to make courses like data analytics and marketing more accessible and affordable for graduate students and senior executives.

Samuel Teo, the General Manager at Aventis Graduate School, said the school aims to create a metaverse environment that is accessible around the clock. He added that this setup would offer students access to support 24/7.

Teo further noted that,

Even during off-peak hours when professors are not online, you can have artificial intelligence avatars, professor avatars to exchange ideas and seek assistance.

According to Dr. Loretta Chen, the co-founder of Smobler Studios, this partnership will help offer value, quality, and accessibility across geographical, economic, and social boundaries.

Introducing an earn-and-learn model

The school approximates that a master’s program could cost around $20,000 while a graduate diploma course could see students part with around $5,000. For students unable to pay this fee, the Aventis Graduate School will offer an earn-and-learn model, where learners will get financial aid from corporate sponsors.

Explaining how the earn-and-learn model would work, Teo said,

For example, a corporate sponsor helps a student who needs financial assistance. After the student completes the course, he will earn non-fungible tokens, or NFT digital badges, which can be traded, sold and exchanged.

The student can co-share the NFT with their sponsor or sell it and share the earnings.

Aventis Graduate School aims to start the beta testing of its virtual campus in Q3 2022. The beta program will comprise existing students and alumni.
